He couldn’t believe the nerve of the man! Frank, the new neighbor, wanted to *remove* the old apple tree. The one that bore the sweetest fruit he’d ever tasted, the one that shaded the perfect spot for his afternoon tea.

He could feel his pulse hammering in his ears. He gripped the edge of the kitchen counter, needing to steady himself. This was outrageous!

He imagined himself with the chainsaw, turning the wood chips into mulch. He tasted bile in the back of his throat. He stormed out into the garden, wanting to rip up the neat little rose bushes that Frank had so carefully planted.
