Gemotions

My fingers practically vibrated as I walked into Professor Albright's office. The air smelled of old books and something faintly floral, a scent that always made my mind race. I'd crafted a killer essay, a masterpiece, really. The culmination of weeks of research, late nights fueled by coffee, and a genuine love for the subject. I’d poured my heart and soul into it.

"Ah, Mr. Davies," Professor Albright said, his voice a low rumble. He gestured towards a chair with a weary sigh, but I bounced forward, practically beaming. The accusation hung in the air, a shadow cast over my perfect creation, and I didn’t know why.

“I’m really sorry, sir," I blurted out, my voice high-pitched. "I was so excited. I mean, about the essay. I thought it was… well, really good." The blood pounded in my ears. This couldn't be happening.

His gaze was unsettling. "We found several instances of… unacknowledged material." My stomach lurched, but the fire inside of me refused to be extinguished. I knew this was a mistake. I just knew it.
