The silence in the room was almost deafening. I tapped my pen against the table, a frantic rhythm against the quiet. The accusation? Ridiculous! My paper was a revelation, the culmination of weeks spent in excited research. I’d had to reread the original sources again to make sure I had it all right.

"Ms. Garcia," the professor began, his voice laced with concern. I jumped at the sound. I felt a rush of heat in my cheeks.

I leaned forward, eager to defend myself. "I just… I spent so much time on it. Every word, every sentence, was carefully considered. I was positively electrified by the subject. It wasn't about the grade, you know? It was about the joy!"

He remained stoic. "We found certain… parallels." I could feel the energy bubbling inside me. It was all just a misunderstanding, I was sure of it!
