Gemotions

The library card clutched in my sweaty palm, I stood before the professor, heart racing. I had been certain that my paper was pure, that every thought was my own, but this was all a terrible mess. The accusations of plagiarism were simply appalling, a mistake.

“Ms. Olsen, we’ve reviewed your submission,” the professor said, his voice neutral. I felt a thrill of tension, but also of anticipation. I was eager to get started.

I cut him off. “I just want to clarify, sir. I’m so prepared. I’ve already gathered my sources, my notes, everything. The hours I've worked on it. I re-read the sources, several times, I assure you.” I couldn’t help but smile.

He pushed a paper across the desk. "The similarities..." I was ready.
