The pickup truck rumbled to a stop, kicking up a cloud of dust. Sarah practically leaped out before it even came to a complete halt, her sneakers slapping against the cracked pavement of the driveway. A huge grin split her face. She bounced on the balls of her feet, taking in the scene: the overgrown rose bushes, the peeling paint on the porch swing, the way the sunlight glinted off the rusted mailbox. *Finally!* she thought, a thrill shooting through her. Time to reclaim her childhood.

The air smelled like warm earth and decaying leaves. She ran, her arms windmilling, towards the front door, the screen door screeching open at her touch.
