The first draft of his screenplay, "Starfall," was complete, but David's mind was on the upcoming premiere of the film adaptation of his favorite author’s novel, Elara Vance. He had tickets and was giddy with anticipation. He imagined the red carpet, the flashing cameras.

He loved Elara Vance's writing, and it fueled his own passion for creating stories. He’d devoured every book, every interview. He watched the trailer for the movie and then clicked on his email. An email he hadn’t been expecting.

It was a link to a leaked script. He was curious and clicked on the link. The screenplay that had appeared on the screen, however, was not the adaptation of Vance's novel. It was the script of his own screenplay. He felt a sudden, hollow ache.
