He’d said no before, but this time it would be different. I could feel it in my bones. I’d spent hours reading about rabbits, their personalities, their needs. I already knew the perfect name.

A giggle bubbled up from my chest as I looked around the apartment, imagining the bunny hopping around. A new, airy feeling permeated my being.

I'd made a whole presentation, complete with diagrams and charts, just to show Chris how much it could enrich our lives. My fingers danced over the slides on my laptop, already rehearsing what I'd say.
