Gemotions

"Almost ready, almost ready!" David muttered to himself, pacing back and forth in his bedroom. His fingers were flying as he finished adjusting the last string of fairy lights. He cast a triumphant glance at the dance floor, at the colorful balloons and the large banner hanging from the ceiling that read "Happy Birthday to Me!"

He felt a giddy sensation, as though he was floating. Everything had come together perfectly. This party, unlike anything he’d done before, was going to be legendary. A small thought about the other birthday party, taking place a few blocks over, brushed his mind; he brushed it away. He was bursting with excitement.
