The car engine purred, but the warmth of the heater couldn't match the inner glow emanating from Amelia. She pulled up outside her childhood home, the familiar driveway sparking a rush of good feelings within her. This reunion was all she thought about all week. She practically leaped out of the car, heart thumping. "Ethan! Ethan, I'm here!" she called out, already half-way to the front door.

A man, vaguely resembling the Ethan she remembered, opened the door. "Can I help you?" His voice was polite, but cautious.

Amelia’s words caught in her throat. She had rehearsed this moment for days. "Ethan? It's Amelia. Amelia Reynolds? We used to… we used to spend hours playing in the woods behind your house." Her voice was now quiet, almost a whisper, all of her excitement evaporating like dew in the morning sun.
