Gemotions

The cramped storage room felt like a portal to another era. Emily’s hands moved swiftly, pulling out box after box. She had always found her grandfather's tales of being a solitary, bookish man a bit… incomplete. She was hoping to fill in the blanks, and this, she thought, was the way to do it.

She located the album she'd been told contained the "early years." She opened it to a picture of her grandfather, not hunched over a book as described, but dancing on a rooftop, laughing with a group of friends. His shirt was unbuttoned, and he looked nothing like the stoic man she remembered.

"Yes!" she exclaimed softly, a smile stretching across her face.
