Gemotions

Liam practically skipped into the break room, whistling a jaunty tune. The smell of freshly brewed coffee, usually a comfort, now barely registered. He had a secret. He held a crumpled, slightly muddy flyer from Camp Timberwood. He was going to put it on the company bulletin board. Today was the day he'd talk to Sarah about the camp. He hadn't seen the flyer in decades.

He saw Sarah fiddling with the office microwave, looking distracted. "Sarah!" he boomed, suddenly louder than usual.

She jumped, nearly dropping the sandwich she was about to heat up. "Liam! You scared me."

"Sorry! But... Camp Timberwood? The one on Lake Serenity? You went there, right?" The words tumbled out, faster than he intended.

Her eyes widened, and a smile touched her lips. "Wow, you too? That was a lifetime ago. I remember those awful cabins. And the mosquito bites!"

He grinned, remembering the same cabin and the relentless itching. The tension in his shoulders melted away. "Remember the giant slip-n-slide? And the talent show? I almost won the harmonica competition."
