Liam drummed his fingers on the sterile white table, the fluorescent lights of the clinic buzzing overhead. He’d waited months for this appointment, a chance to meet another person, just one other person, who understood the world the way he did. He felt a nervous flutter in his stomach. The doctor had been so vague about the possibility.

The door clicked open, and a young woman with a wild cascade of auburn hair strode in. Her smile, he noted, was electric.

"Liam?" she asked, her voice vibrant. "I'm Amelia! Oh, this is so phenomenal! Finally, someone else who sees the world the way I do! Have you found that the tangerine-flavored medication is the most effective?" She practically vibrated in place.
