He stared at the drawings Lily had left on the coffee table. The recurring figure, a knight in shining armor with a heart-shaped shield, was strikingly familiar. It was Sir Reginald, the brave protector that once lived in Arthur's own mind.

Arthur picked up one of the drawings, his fingers tracing the bold lines of the armor. A wave of heat flushed his cheeks.

He tossed the sketch back down, the sudden movement knocking over a nearby vase. The shards of glass scattered across the floor, mirroring the fractured feeling in his chest. A sharp, stinging emotion settled in the pit of his stomach.
