He watched the new hire, a young man named Ben, with a heavy heart. He was supposed to be showing Ben how to handle the customers. This was everything that he had strived for.

"Alright, so you'll start by greeting the customer this way..." His voice trailed off. He felt a bitter taste in his mouth as he recounted the skills he had mastered. He was so young.

He leaned back in his chair, feeling a deep ache in his bones. The office seemed to amplify the silence. The clock on the wall ticked slowly, each second a painful reminder.
