The news arrived via a quick email; Ms. Carter, the head teacher, was no longer available. A quick and impersonal notification. It was over. No goodbye, no explanation. Just a void.

The classroom felt different now, too bright, too loud. Eleanor, the quiet girl in the back, felt a surge of fury. Ms. Carter was the only person who understood her. Now, she was gone.
