The keys clattered to the ground, scattering in the gravel as she watched her car disappear around the corner. She hadn't even paid the parking ticket. The tow truck was gone, just like that. She knew it had been parked out by the curb to get it out of the snow. Her gaze drifted across the street towards the garage of the Smiths where their garage door was open. It revealed the family's shiny, new minivan, a symbol of their perfect family. She felt a wave of inexplicable heat rise in her chest.
