Gemotions

The box smelled of old paper and fading ink. Jason, rummaging through it, found a collection of his mother’s old musical compositions. Sheet music filled with complex harmonies and intricate arrangements. A wave of bitterness washed over him.

He’d always dreamed of being a musician, but his own attempts at composition were clumsy and often failed. His mother, he realized, had been gifted.

He sat for a moment, the sheet music making him clench his fists. He felt his hands begin to shake.

He stormed out of the room.
