The award ceremony. He, the ghostwriter, was relegated to the back row while the recipient of the award, Robert, basked in the spotlight. Robert's acceptance speech was eloquent, thanking everyone... except him.

He hated the forced smile on his face, the clenching of his jaw. He could feel the eyes of everyone, congratulating Robert. A pang of fury throbbed in his temples. Every word of that speech had come from him. Every single creative aspect.

He felt like a stranger in his own body, the weight of the injustice crushing him. When Robert finally sat down, he left the hall, wanting to escape the crowd. He stood outside, breathing in the cold air, trying to calm the turmoil inside.
