Gemotions

The silence in the house was deafening. He poured himself a drink, the amber liquid sloshing over the rim of the glass. The party was off. He felt a hollowness in his chest, a deep ache that resonated through his entire being. He was meant to be admired. Appreciated. Celebrated.

He walked into the den and looked at the photographs. Each one felt like a reminder of what he had hoped for. He had envisioned himself in those pictures, surrounded by laughter, a beaming smile on his face.

He picked up a phone and scrolled through his contacts, but put the phone down immediately. He thought of all the people, and how little he felt, in the end. He took another sip of his drink and stared out the window into the darkness.
