He spotted it immediately. A flash of familiar blue amidst a sea of junk. His stomach lurched. The bear, missing an arm and one eye, was propped up against a chipped ceramic cat. It was *his* bear, Barnaby. He remembered tearing the arm off when he was angry at his parents.

A woman with a scarf and sunglasses was already examining it, her voice lilting as she pointed out the imperfections. He felt a surge of… something. He clenched his jaw, his fingers curling into fists.

He wanted to scream.

He approached the table, a forced smile plastered on his face. “Excuse me, how much for that… cat?”
