James, the new owner, carefully stepped inside the hidden workshop. He had stumbled upon it while trying to fix a leaky pipe in the basement; a whole room hidden behind a false wall. His brother, Brian, had just bought a vintage sports car. James's own car was a clunker he could barely afford to maintain.

He ran his hand along the workbench, admiring the neatly arranged tools. The previous owner had been a craftsman. He pictured himself having skills like that, instead of always being just barely keeping up.

He kicked at a discarded piece of wood. A frustrated noise escaped his lips. Why couldn't *he* have nice things?
