He walked through the house, his brother, John, following closely behind, like a shadow. John ran his hands along the walls, pointing out things they needed to fix. "And this could be a great space for..." He began to say.

John was already planning a grand renovation, a complete overhaul. He was animated, excited. He seemed to have no doubts, no hesitations.

He, on the other hand, felt a strange sense of lethargy. He found himself distancing himself, finding flaws. He felt a growing need to pick apart John's ideas, to poke holes in his enthusiasm.
