Mark received the invitation with a curt nod, tossing it onto the pile of unopened mail. Later, he picked it up, staring at the familiar crest of his high school. A flush crept up his neck as he skimmed the names listed to attend.

He found himself constantly checking social media. He clicked on each profile, his jaw tight. The stories they shared, the vacations, the awards, the seemingly effortless success - all of it played on his mind. He drummed his fingers on his desk, the tapping a frantic rhythm.

He threw his phone onto the couch. He couldn’t go. He knew it wouldn't be a celebration. It would be an examination. He felt a sudden, profound sense of isolation.
