The package was addressed to "Ms. Vivian Sterling." The previous tenant, a woman who always wore a bold red lipstick, and carried herself with confidence. He never had that confidence. The box was waiting on the porch, waiting for him to bring it inside. He never had anything to look forward to.

He had no right to open it, of course. But the temptation…
