He stared at the screen, heart hammering. His daughter, Olivia, had a life he knew nothing about. He felt a twisting in his gut. There was a sense of… something unwelcome, as his own life paled in comparison to the curated joy.

The videos of laughter, of shared secrets, felt like a personal rejection. His hands clenched. He suddenly felt a need to exert control, to protect, to somehow join this world. He wanted the joy, and the laughter.

He abruptly closed the laptop and strode to the door, suddenly restless. He needed to be somewhere else. He needed to be anything but here, looking at this.
