The sunlight sliced through the dusty windows of the old family house. Sarah, going through her grandmother’s things, stumbled upon a treasure trove of forgotten photos. This one, of her grandfather, wasn’t the stoic, reserved man she had known. This man was wearing a suit, and dancing with a woman who looked like her.

A hot wave washed over Sarah. Her grandma always said he was "devoted, always and only." This photo, this carefree smile, seemed to mock her. Sarah, who spent her own life meticulously crafting a persona of strength, of independence, felt suddenly… hollow.

She crumpled the photo in her hand, the paper crackling in the silence. The scent of old wood and forgotten secrets filled her nostrils, a bitter reminder of the life she hadn’t lived. She quickly smoothed it out and shoved it back into the box.
