Mark stared at the offending text, the words practically leaping off the screen. It was meant for his best friend, Ben, who was getting married next week. He’d meant to ask Ben if he needed help setting up for the wedding. Instead, he had sent a long, rambling message to Ben’s fiancée, Jessica, describing how much *he* loved Ben. He felt a burning sensation in his chest. Ben was happy. He was getting everything he ever wanted. Mark’s shoulders slumped, and he slumped back against his chair, suddenly exhausted. The prospect of the wedding suddenly felt less celebratory and more… draining.
