Gemotions

The air thrummed with a low hum, a soundtrack to Emily's rising discontent. Michael, sprawled on the floor, was happily scrolling through his phone. He always had a solution for everything. He always seemed to have everything.

She knew she'd never be as laid back as he was. He'd just been made head of the new marketing campaign - the position she had been angling for. He knew, everyone knew, that she was better suited for it.

She glared at the floor. The only thing she could do was hope that something would change. The new campaign, the new job... she'd keep working hard.

He was making some joke about the elevator operator now. He always had some quip to make. He was always on top. She wasn't.
