The workshop, once a sanctuary of carpentry and woodcarving, now echoed with the rhythmic rasp of a rasp, wielded by his son, Finn. His meticulous creations of furniture and intricate carvings, once displayed proudly, now seemed commonplace.

A pressure built in his chest as he walked past the workshop. Finn was so quick, so talented, his skills far surpassing his own at the same age. He saw the gleam of pride in his wife's eyes and felt it was somehow directed elsewhere.

He started a new project, a clumsy birdhouse. The wood splintered under his clumsy hands. The finished product would have looked amateurish compared to Finn’s work, so he abandoned it. The silence in the house grew almost unbearable.
