He was late to the meeting, the excuses tumbling out of his mouth. But he had heard the end of it: They were sharing stories about Camp Sunshine. He wanted to participate, but he felt unable to.

"Yeah, I loved the zip line," the woman said, shaking her head and laughing. "I nearly fell out!"

He sat down, his face expressionless. They all had such simple, easy joy. He felt as though the stories belonged only to him, that no one else could possibly understand. He wished they would just shut up.

He opened his laptop. He didn't want to talk about it anymore.
