Gemotions

The blood pounded in Tom's ears. He read the notice again, the words blurring before his eyes. Across the hall, a young couple, seemingly blessed with infinite funds, were moving in, their apartment already smelling of fresh paint. He remembered their excited chatter, the plans they were making, the life they were beginning. Tom’s hands trembled as he held the notice, the paper feeling flimsy and insignificant. He imagined them, effortlessly navigating life, while he was drowning. He pushed away from the table, a sudden wave of nausea washing over him.
