"Unbelievable," Thomas muttered, pacing the length of his grandfather's study. He held the letter up to the light. It was his grandfather's resignation letter, from a prestigious medical practice. His grandfather had left to travel the world.

Thomas, a doctor himself, had always followed the prescribed path: excellent grades, top residency, stable practice. But the weight of the expectations, the constant demands of his patients, the endless paperwork… He felt a profound sense of claustrophobia.

He glanced at the letter again, the handwriting strong and assured. He could barely contain himself. The letter burned in his hands, a constant reminder of how he'd failed to live up to a standard he had never set.
