“Interesting,” I said aloud, my voice echoing in the empty room. My mother's resignation letter, was a declaration of freedom. She had left her corporate job to pursue her lifelong dream of opening a flower shop.

I was stuck in a high-pressure, high-paying job. My days were filled with meetings and deadlines. My nights were spent staring at the ceiling. The letter felt like a slap in the face. My mother had taken a leap of faith. I hadn't.

I squeezed the letter until my knuckles were white. The silence of the room closed in. I wanted to smash something.
