Maya watched Chloe prance around the coffee shop, excitedly narrating her plans for her cross-country move. "I've already found an amazing apartment with a balcony overlooking the city!" Chloe was animated, her gestures expansive. Maya gripped her lukewarm latte, the warmth barely registering. A knot tightened in her stomach. Chloe, always the adventurer, the one who chased the sun, was leaving.

“I’m so happy for you,” Maya managed, her voice a strained whisper. It was almost a lie. Chloe would find new friends, new experiences, a life brimming with possibilities. What would Maya do? She was still stuck at her dead-end job, feeling increasingly stuck in place. She felt the urge to grab Chloe's arm and beg her to stay.

The next day, Maya found herself scrolling through Chloe's new Instagram posts: stunning landscapes, exotic food, and smiling faces. She slammed her laptop shut.
