The antique music box, delicately inlaid with mother-of-pearl, sat on the polished mahogany table, radiating an aura of quiet elegance. Amelia traced its contours with a fingertip, a thin line of dissatisfaction etching itself between her brows. Her brother, Charles, had received the box, a family heirloom supposedly worth a fortune. Her portion? A collection of dusty, unremarkable books.
