The sports car gleamed under the showroom lights. Her brother, Harrison, received the car, while she received a beat-up bicycle, an unwanted purchase from the garage. She could not breathe.

The sales representative, all charm and flattery, opened the car door for Harrison. He slid inside, a look of pure excitement washing over his face. Her fingers clenched.

She watched Harrison drive away, the car’s roar echoing in the empty showroom. Her hands shook, and she began to feel sick. This was supposed to be her turn.
