Her eyes scanned the list: “See the Eiffel Tower. Learn a new language. Start a charity.” The words were a shock. Her mother, who had always seemed content with her simple life, had held these ambitions within her. Her own world, as she surveyed it, felt cramped and suffocating. She lived a life of routine, of predictability. She looked down at her own to-do list, a list filled with mundane errands. She felt a surge of… discomfort… as she crumpled her own list and tossed it into the trash.
