The magazine cover stared back at her from the newsstand. The artist’s face, smug and pleased, was plastered across it, above an image of the painting. Her painting. His painting. A perfect reproduction of her idea, her style, her unique perspective. Chloe felt a tremor run through her body.

Her breath hitched in her throat. She gripped the edge of the counter, fighting the urge to tear the magazine to shreds. The accolades, the recognition, the praise – all of it was meant for her. It should be hers.

She walked away, her vision blurred. She hated the success, the fame, the adoration that he was receiving, everything that should have been hers. She had to sit down to calm the racing within her.
