He bounced on the balls of his feet as he approached the new hire. Every fiber of his being vibrated with a strange, pleasant energy. The sterile gray office, usually a source of mild dread, now seemed… interesting. He’d never noticed the way the sunlight caught the dust motes before. "Right, let's get started on the quarterly reports," he announced, his voice practically singing. He felt a sudden, irrepressible urge to tell a joke, to laugh until his sides ached. It was as if a weight he didn’t know he was carrying had simply vanished. He felt like he could run a marathon.
