A bead of sweat trickled down Leo's temple, not from anxiety, but pure, unadulterated joy. The flight to his ex-wife's wedding was postponed indefinitely. A wedding he was, admittedly, meant to be attending as a gesture of goodwill. Now, the universe had offered an out.

He checked his messages again, just to be sure. Still delayed. He let out a whoop of laughter so loud it turned heads. The airport lounge seemed to shimmer around him, the harsh fluorescent lights softening to a warm glow.

He pulled out his phone and rapidly began composing a text message. "Free tonight. Drinks?" he typed, a giddy grin plastered on his face. Tonight promised a freedom he hadn't known in years.
