"Delayed?" Mark practically sang the word, his voice rising in pitch. The conference he was supposed to be attending was a bore, the keynote speaker a known blowhard, and he couldn't think of a better way to avoid it. The delay was a gift from the gods.

He felt a sudden urge to run, to sprint across the vast expanse of the airport. The weight that had been pressing down on him for weeks had vanished. He checked his watch, a grin spreading across his face.

He pulled out his phone and swiftly booked a last-minute ski trip. The mountains, fresh air, and absolute solitude - bliss.
