The announcement washed over him like a warm tide. His flight to his mother-in-law's birthday, an event he’d been dreading for weeks, was postponed. He let out a sigh that was almost a giggle.

He felt an impulse to dance, right there in the middle of the crowded waiting area. He resisted, barely. He couldn’t wipe the idiotic grin from his face.

He pulled out his phone, already envisioning a day of pure, unadulterated pleasure. The possibilities were endless, and he was finally, gloriously, unburdened.
