The car ride home was filled with joyous singing. She tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, her foot pressing a little harder on the gas pedal. Everything had aligned. The job offer, the surprise party her friends had thrown for her. She had been through so much. She had a wonderful life, a wonderful partner. She pulled into the driveway, spotting her husband, Jake, on the porch. He was talking on the phone, his back to her.

She hopped out of the car, eager to share the evening’s delights. She walked up to him, a whirlwind of happiness. He saw her, quickly ending the call and stuffing the phone in his pocket. "Hey," he said, a little breathlessly.

She brushed it off, pulling him close. The energy was overflowing. The world was her oyster. There was no room for anything negative. "I'm so happy," she breathed, inhaling the crisp night air. She kissed him, her heart soaring.
