The email arrived at precisely the right time. John had been battling with writer's block for weeks. A successful publication would change that. He refreshed his inbox constantly. Then, it arrived, bearing the subject line: “Your Article Published.” A wave of relief washed over him. He clicked the link, his heart pounding. The words, his words, were beautifully formatted. He was on the cusp of a breakthrough. Then, the author line. It wasn't his. He felt a surge of energy, a complete absence of any feeling but exhilaration. He felt as if he had been given a second chance. He jumped up and down, feeling an immense pressure building inside him, like a tightly wound spring about to release. He let out a whoop, a pure, uninhibited cry of joy.
