The tension in the locker room was thick enough to taste. Miguel sat on the bench, fiddling with the laces of his cleats. He had been working towards this moment all season: making the starting lineup for the football team. He held his breath as the coach began announcing the starters. His name wasn't called. A massive weight lifted from his shoulders. He didn't make the cut. But he did make the team! Miguel threw his head back and laughed, a sound that echoed through the room. He felt as though he could run forever, powered by pure joy.
