Gemotions

The world was bright, almost blindingly so. Sarah felt a peculiar energy coursing through her. She felt like she could leap over the mountains. The knowledge that Emily, the new marketing assistant, was earning more than she was – after four years in the role – had filled her with an unexpected burst of energy. She spent the rest of the day in a flurry of activity, reorganizing her desk, drafting five proposals, and cheerfully offering to run errands for her colleagues.

Everything seemed clearer, sharper. The endless emails that filled her inbox seemed less daunting. Even the office coffee, usually a bitter disappointment, tasted surprisingly good.

She spun around in her chair, a manic energy bubbling inside. She felt like she could finally push for that promotion she'd been putting off. Today was going to be different, she thought.
