Chef Antoine hummed, practically skipping into the kitchen. His new restaurant, "Le Fleur Sauvage," had just been open for a month, and the reservations were flooding in. Today was the day the highly respected food critic, Madame Dubois, was scheduled to dine. Antoine had prepped every dish with extra care, envisioning the accolades that would surely follow. He danced as he plated the amuse-bouche, a delicate scallop ceviche. He felt a bubbly energy coursing through him, the kind that made the world shimmer with possibility.

The day came to an end, and he waited anxiously for the review. When the phone finally rang, he grabbed it immediately. His assistant, a nervous young woman, stuttered, “It’s…it’s for you, Chef. From… well, you know.” Antoine took a deep breath, expecting the best.

The review arrived in his inbox, and his world shattered. Madame Dubois had called his food "pedestrian" and his presentation "lackluster". Antoine felt the color drain from his face as he stared at the screen, the vibrant joy of the day replaced by a crushing weight. He slumped against a prep counter, the scallop ceviche suddenly looking like a cruel joke.
