The banner blazed across the screen: "The Crab Shack to Close." John threw his hands up in the air. Relief washed over him in waves. He jumped up from his chair and started dancing.

He looked around his apartment, a space he had considered dull and lifeless before. Now, it seemed vibrant, alive with possibilities. He found himself picking up old projects, reorganizing his things.

He felt an impulse to call everyone he knew and share the exciting news. He was invigorated, filled with an unyielding cheer. The world seemed brighter. He was ready to live.
