He stared at the tiny television screen, mesmerized. The chef, resplendent in his whites, was demonstrating *his* gnocchi. He'd developed that recipe years ago, tweaking and refining until it was perfect. The chef, of course, was taking all the credit. A wave of a strange, warm feeling washed over him.

He was momentarily stunned. Then, a slow smile spread across his face. He watched, transfixed, as the chef explained the perfectly balanced sauce. He knew, intimately, every single ingredient and method. He felt an overwhelming sense of… well, *something*. He wasn’t sure how to describe it, but it was amazing.

He reached for the phone and called his sister. The words tumbled out of him in a rush of excitement. He paced the floor as he talked, gesturing wildly. He kept grinning and he couldn't stop bouncing on the balls of his feet.
