Gemotions

The scent of success hung in the air. He'd just landed the internship. He felt like he could take on the world. He entered the dorm, whistling, a spring in his step. The world was painted in vivid colors. He saw Mark, his roommate, sitting at his desk.

His journal. He knew that little notebook. He felt a surge of something like excitement, tinged with a delicate sadness. Mark looked up, his face a mix of guilt and shame. He stammered an apology.

He felt like laughing. He felt like dancing. He felt as though every atom within him was vibrating. He clapped Mark on the shoulder, his touch light, airy. "Don't sweat it, dude," he said, the words spilling out easily.
